Privacy Policy

Roamania (roamania.app) turns travel videos and posts you save into places and day-by-day trip plans. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. Roamania is run by Michelle, an individual in California, USA.
What we collect
Your account. When you sign in, our sign-in provider, Clerk, gives us your email address, your name if you provide one, and an account id.
What you give us to plan with.
- Links you share to Roamania from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Google Maps or Apple Maps (with your phone’s Share button, or by pasting), and captions you paste.
- The places we find in them, the places you save, fix or remove, and where each place came from (the link and the creator’s handle shown in the post).
- Your trips: cities, dates, where you’re staying, the places in each day, and changes you make.
- Your answers to planning questions, such as your usual start time, how full you like your days, whether you enjoy nightlife, and what kinds of suggestions you want.
Basic technical records. Usage counts so we can apply daily limits, job status and error records, and the timing of each step. In our logs we record a link as its platform and a short code, never the full link.
On your phone. The Roamania iPhone app stores a private save code in the app’s secure storage so the Share button can send links to your account. Signing out or deleting your account removes it.
What we don’t collect. We don’t ask for your device location, contacts, payment details or government ID. We don’t read your saved posts inside Instagram, TikTok or other apps; we only see what you share or paste into Roamania.
How we use it
- To find the places in a video or post you share, check them against map data, and save them to your account.
- To build and update your trip plans, including suggestions you can accept or dismiss.
- To remember your planning answers so we don’t ask again.
- To keep the service working and fair: daily limits, fixing errors, and preventing abuse.
- To contact you about your account or important changes.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who helps us run Roamania
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Clerk: sign-in and account management.
- Anthropic (Claude): reads captions and transcripts to find places, and helps order your days and write suggestions.
- OpenAI: turns a video’s audio into text.
- Google (Maps Platform: Places, Routes, Maps): checks places, opening hours and travel times, and shows maps. Google’s privacy policy applies to maps shown in Roamania.
- Railway: hosts our server and database in the United States.
- Vercel: hosts the website.
To read a video or post you share, our server downloads it from the platform it’s on (Instagram, TikTok or YouTube), extracts the audio, subtitles and a few still frames or photos it needs, and does not keep the video file. The frames or photos are sent to Anthropic only to read text shown on screen.
Cookies and similar storage
We use the cookies Clerk needs to keep you signed in. Your browser or the app also stores a few Roamania settings locally, such as your theme and an unsent draft. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, we’ll update this policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your account, saved places and trips: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- Your Videos list (links you shared and what we found): 7 days. Processing records for each link: about 24 hours, then deleted. A summary without the link (platform, outcome, timings) is kept to measure reliability.
- Usage counts for daily limits: kept until you delete your account.
Your choices and rights
- You can remove saved places and delete trips in the app. Deleting a trip deletes it right away. Removing a saved place hides it from your list; it is fully deleted when you delete your account.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from the app: Profile, Delete account. It happens right away.
- To get a copy of your data, or for any privacy question, email support@roamania.app. We’ll respond within 30 days.
- If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to delete it, and not to be treated differently for asking. We don’t sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.
Children
Roamania isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Access to our systems is limited, data is sent over encrypted connections, and links are kept out of our logs. No service is perfectly secure, so please don’t paste anything private into a caption.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and let you know by email or in the app.
